We have been buying books and educational toys from markets and book fairs in Chongqing. Yesterday I bought so much I had to get a local "bang bang man" (lit: carry carry man) to help me. I forgot to take my camera but this picture shows what he looked like:
Thank you everybody for this amazing effort. We raised over 10,307RMB and will be able to set up an unreal library for the students at Shiban! Now, time to plan the launch!
1 DAY TO GO for online donations for the Shiban project. Click on the Financial Donations link above. We welcome every dollar. Thank you!
It is amazing how a donation links perfect strangers. Rut Frohlich, an Australian yoga teacher is holding a gong workshop and donating 1/3 of profits to the Students' Library Project. The Australians who attend the workshop in the sunny beach-side community of Terrigal to learn about the gong will, at the same time, be providing books for children in Chongqing (the kids in the picture above). So cool!
I was talking with some people in a coffee shop and they donated 600RMB! Thank you!
What a week! 2,810 RMB ($430USD) donated in 5 days! Thank you!
